The University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje is the first state university in the Republic of North Macedonia, established in 1949 with three faculties. Today, it represents a community of 23 faculties, 5 scientific institutes, 4 public scientific institutions – associate members, 1 associate member – another higher education institution, and 7 associate members – other organizations. Its activities are regulated by the Law on Higher Education and the University Statute.

At the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, study programs exist in all scientific fields – natural and mathematical sciences, technical and technological sciences, medical sciences and health, biotechnical sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. In addition to the faculties, research activities are also conducted at the scientific institutes within the University.

The profile of the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje can be illustrated with the following figures: in the teaching and educational process at all faculties, more than 60,000 students from the Republic of North Macedonia are enrolled in the first and second cycles of study, as well as over 700 international students. The third cycle – doctoral studies – is carried out within the Doctoral School of the University, with a total of 655 students. In the implementation of the teaching, educational, and research processes at the faculties and institutes, more than 3,100 academic, research, and administrative staff members are involved.

Throughout its development, the University has produced approximately 150,000 highly qualified professionals, over 10,000 masters and specialists, and around 4,000 doctors of science across all academic fields.

In the overall activities of the University, particular significance is given to sports, artistic, informational, recreational, and other activities, organized through various associations, unions, clubs, and similar organizations.
